Being in a position to help those in need is deeply humbling and rewarding. I see what I do as more than a job, it’s a calling.
Get to know Shane
After studying Law and Criminology at The University of Sheffield, I completed my Legal Practice Course before beginning my legal career and joining Slater and Gordon’s personal injury team in Manchester in 2016. I currently sit in the Military and Industrial Disease Team, having also been a lawyer within the Road Traffic Collisions Team and the Abuse and Public Inquiries Team.
As a Military specialist, I am instructed in military injury claims (both civil and AFCS) representing current and former armed forces personnel in complex cases involving personal injury, illness and death attributed to service. I also have a specific specialism and substantial experience in representing bereaved families, investigating fatal accidents, and representing families through inquests and/or public inquiries and representing blameless victims of violent crime in CICA applications and Tribunals.
The whole process was dealt with with the utmost respect and professionalism from the first initial phone call to the outcome. Through it all I was kept up to date with all issues, I can’t thank you enough.

A very professional service throughout a difficult time. Slater and Gordon have dealt with my claim exactly as advertised. They have given me the clarity and advice including support. I would highly recommend Shane and Slater and Gordon to anyone needing to make a legal claim. Not only have I had the best representation I have felt highly supported when dealing with anxiety and emotional situations.

Career highlights
In the wake of both the Grenfell Tower Disaster and Manchester Arena Terrorist Bombing I was part of the team instructed in both cases by a number of bereaved families to represent them through the Inquest and Public Inquiry. In the wake of the Manchester Arena attack, I was quickly appointed as Chair of the Manchester Arena Inquest Steering Committee by Manchester Law Society prior to proceedings being converted to a Public Inquiry and I also played an integral role in the team responsible for the settlement of the civil claims that arose out of the Manchester Arena Terrorist Bombing. I was also part of the legal team instructed into the Public Inquiry into the Covid-19 Pandemic in which I have been involved in 7 out of 10 modules on behalf a number of groups impacted.
I have experience in representing the families of British persons who have died abroad and have represented a family through an Inquest into a double homicide in Jamaica (following which I appeared in The Real Death in Paradise documentary on Quest Red/Discovery+ discussing the case); a murder in Mongolia; and a suspicious death in Mexico. It has also been a highlight to secure a six figure settlement from the CICA on behalf of a minor who was the victim of a brutal attack which left her with life changing injuries. I also acted on behalf of a family who perished in an horrific arson attack at their family home resulting in multiple deaths.
I currently sit on the Council of Manchester Law Society and as the Chair of Manchester Law Society’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. I have appeared in both local and national news, tv and radio including an in-studio interview on BBC Breakfast TVs talking about the tragic case of a death following an allergic reaction.
