Get to know Rosalyn
I trained with a large national claimant injury firm in London and latterly Manchester, and over the last 20 years have represented and won compensation for hundreds of injured claimants. I am delighted and proud to have made the move in 2022 to the fantastic and vastly experienced Clinical Negligence team at Slater and Gordon as a Team Leader.
I developed a particular interest in clinical negligence and have practiced solely in that field since 2015. That has afforded me extensive experience dealing with a wide range of matters including utmost severity cerebral palsy and other birth injuries, fatal claims, delay in diagnosis of cancer and other diseases, orthopaedic and surgical blunders, and neglect claims.
I have only ever acted for claimants (not defendants or insurers) a fact I am very proud of and I am passionate about achieving justice and recovering compensation for my often vulnerable clients . I am approachable, friendly, and compassionate and the Legal 500 noted in 2020 that I have a “great manner with clients”.
Roz is very approachable. She is also very intelligent and experienced and deploys these attributes to enable her clients to formulate the best strategy and obtain maximum results. It is a pleasure working with her. Christian Taylor, Barrister Exchange Chambers
Career highlights
I meticulously investigated the labour and birth of a baby boy which gave rise to a claim for cerebral palsy. My robust opening correspondence with the defendant following that investigation process resulted in a rare full early admission of liability and facilitated a six-figure interim payment. This enabled the claimant and his family to move to a large, single story accommodation suitable for his complex needs and with space for therapies and access to outside space , before he turned 3.
I recently recovered a 6-figure sum for a 75-year-old claimant who suffered an above knee amputation after a blood clot developed in hospital whilst waiting for routine surgery to fit a pacemaker. The settlement included substantial funds for a prosthesis which had previously been ruled out as an option under NHS funding, due to the claimant’s age. Provision of the prostheses had a positive life changing impact upon her day to day life.
Recognition
Legal 500, an independent legal body said in 2019: “Rosalyn Steeple is a consummate professional. She deals with the most serious of cases with calmness under pressure and in a very personable manner. Clients like her and she establishes good working relationships with defendant solicitors which makes negotiations easier."
The extra mile
I have recently completed the National Three Peaks Challenge raising money with Slater and Gordon Colleagues for Stick ‘n’ Step – a charity that enables, inspires and supports children with cerebral palsy.
Outside of work, I am a school governor and am passionate about the improvement of standards and outcomes for all.
