Get to know Rachael
I studied History at Cambridge University then spent a decade with the Ministry of Defence before deciding to switch to law. I achieved distinctions in my law degree and solicitors’ Legal Practice Certificate, in which I specialised in wills, probate, and trusts.
I joined Slater and Gordon in 2015, as a trainee solicitor, and am now proud to lead the wills and probate team as part of Slater and Gordon’s wider private client department, as a senior associate solicitor . I specialise in the administration of estates and trusts, and advise on estate planning, preparing wills and creating Lasting Powers of Attorney.
I’m known for being able to explain legal terms and concepts clearly and simply, particularly in wills, trusts and tax. I translate legal terms into easy to understand, accessible language and help my clients decide how they want to proceed. I’m efficient and practical when taking cases forwards whether that’s drafting a new will or dealing with a complex estate. Ultimately I really enjoy giving people the peace of mind and reassurance of knowing everything is in place.
Thank you Rachael - your kindness, compassion and first class service is much appreciated at this emotional time for our family.

Client testimonial (for Rachael Gooding)
An online search found Slater and Gordon first, so I enquired and Rachael called me within the hour and began proceedings when she had the necessary details. They have kept me updated throughout the whole process. I've now received the Grant of Probate needed so I can begin settling my mother's affairs. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone with a similar problem.

What are the legal issues when writing a will?
Writing a will is one of those times when consulting with a solicitor can be essential. It’s possible to do a ‘DIY’ will or use an online service, but the legal issues around wills, inheritance and probate can be complicated - which means that it’s easy to make a mistake.
Wills, trusts and estates for Police Federation members
Many people put off making a will but if you fail to make one, the rules of intestacy will apply. This could potentially leave loved ones without any provisions from the estate and assets distributed to distant family members. Our team of specialist lawyers are experts in all areas of wills, trusts and probate and will ensure that your loved ones are provided for after your death.
At Slater and Gordon we offer a wide range of will writing services, from instant buy online wills, to tailored lawyer led wills. Below is our complete range and their features, so you can make an informed decision about which will is right for you. Our will writing team is currently at full capacity, though if you’d still like to pass on your details, please contact willsandprobate@slatergordon.co.uk and we’ll contact you next month to discuss which of our services is suited to your needs.
