Get to know Kayleigh
I qualified as a solicitor in October 2025 after completing a traineeship focused mainly on criminal defence work and, later, the work of the Scottish Hospitals Inquiry. Both roles shaped how I practise now. In criminal defence, I gained experience representing clients in difficult circumstances, managing sensitive issues, and analysing evidence in high‑pressure situations. At the Scottish Hospitals Inquiry, I worked with bereaved families and investigated issues around patient safety and standards of care. That experience deepened my understanding of how healthcare systems operate and how failings can affect people and families in very real ways.
Clinical negligence felt like a natural progression. It brings together detailed investigative work with the opportunity to support clients through something deeply personal. I joined Slater and Gordon in November 2025, where I help patients and families understand their care, get answers, and feel supported during what is often an extremely difficult time.
Career highlights
As a newly qualified solicitor, my highlights so far come from securing positive steps forward for clients, no matter how big or small. Those moments reinforce why I chose this area of law, and I’m looking forward to developing my experience and continuing to support clients throughout my career.
