Our client

Our client, Abbey Phipps, was travelling home when she was involved in a road collision where the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car, containing Abbey and her son, collided with the central reservation. As Abbey is a wheelchair user, emergency services had to cut the vehicle roof off to assist her. During this long process, Abbey was not allowed much pain relief due to her pre-existing disabilities.

Abbey was treated in the emergency department of a hospital after the accident and felt isolated as she was separated from her son and the vehicle's driver. Due to the multitude of investigations and scans she needed, Abbey remained in the hospital for a long time.

Abbey was partially independent prior to the accident, but due to her serious injuries, now requires constant care.

As well as her physical injuries, losing her sense of independence has had a major psychological impact on Abbey’s mental health.

After years of rehabilitation and recovery, Abbey has finally rediscovered parts of her life she enjoyed, such as her painting, and has adapted to her new circumstances.

With the money secured by from her settlement, Abbey was able to pay for the care she needed and adapt her life to suit her current needs, including designing a creative studio where she has a separate space to continue her painting.
