Who can defend me for a road traffic offence?
Road traffic law is designed to keep UK roads safe for every driver, cyclist and pedestrian. While the rules of the road are generally fair and clearly understood, the penalties for breaking them can be hard to live with, especially if losing your licence might also mean losing your livelihood and even your home. It’s also important to understand that where road traffic offences lead to death or serious injury, the courts can and will hand down lengthy custodial sentences.
That’s why, even if you’re accused of a comparatively less serious road traffic offence, the law demands that you receive penalty points on your licence in the event that you’re found guilty. It’s also why you should seek advice from an expert defence solicitor if you receive a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) for any driving offence and you don’t believe you’re guilty.
After all, it only takes a few moments of inattention spread over the course of a few years in order to acquire the 12 points that would see you being disqualified from driving.
If you’ve been charged - or expect to be charged – with any driving offence, you should speak to an expert driving offence solicitor right away.

Can you defend me against traffic tickets?
While the rules of the road are clear, not every alleged motoring offence is clear-cut. We’ve successfully defended many motorists over the years, often simply by challenging the strength of the evidence against them. In some cases, speeding charges can be defended against simply because signs weren’t visible enough.
Charges of running red lights may also be defended against, often because they rely on unsubstantiated witness reports, or because fixed cameras have failed to show all of the circumstances surrounding an incident.
These are just two examples of the possible defences to road traffic prosecutions. If you’ve received a summons, fixed penalty or Notice of Intended Prosecution, talk to one of our experienced road traffic offence solicitors right away.
